The 6Cs set out the values and standards for nurses to work towards. We have adopted this framework here in Dasman Diabetes Institute linking, the 6 Cs of the NHS UK (Cummings J & Bennet V 2012) and the Six Cs of Ottawa (Roach MS 2002). The purpose of this framework is to ensure that patients are cared for with compassion by the professional who are competent and confident in the care they are giving, who also communicate well and have the courage to make changes that improve care and can deliver the best all day, every day.
Care
Care is nursing’s core business and that or Dasman Diabetes Institute. The care delivered helps the individual person and improves the health of the whole community. Caring defines us and the work we do.
Compassion
