• Identification and patenting of biomarkers linking sleep apnea to diabetes and lipid metabolism (1 patent)
• Mrs. Sina Kavalakatt was awarded the Young Researcher award in basic sciences at HSC poster conference, Kuwait University

• Dr. Fatema Al-Rashed, post-doctoral fellow, was awarded L’Oréal–UNESCO FWIS 2017 fellowship grant for the period of November 2017–November 2018

GENETICS AND BIOINFORMATICS DEPARTMENT

• Established high throughput Next generation sequencing technology for DNA and RNA
• Established the CRISPR Genetic Editing work flow
• A method to determine predisposition to metabolic syndrome in children (patent pending)
• Mrs. Rasheeba Nizam received the Best Employee of the Year award from the research sector of DDI
